Meet Thirza Voysey

I am thrilled you’ve found your way here and I feel honoured to share my story with you!

I am a wild, witchy woman.

I have always been connected to something bigger than myself.

Since I was very young, I have felt my connection to the cosmos. I felt so much energy running through my body, that it scared me and I became fearful and felt out of control. I didn’t understand what all of this energy was or why it was in me and nobody else was talking about it.

As a young person, the fear of death took me over in a huge way. I was so afraid every day and so I turned to control as a method to seemingly keep myself safe. My life became so rigid and small that I was actually causing myself to move closer to death.

When I went through a divorce, that’s when everything changed.

I finally stopped living my life externally and committed to living my life connected to my Soul.

That’s also when the magic of horses came back into my life.

Back then, taking my daughter to pony club and spending a few hours every week with the horses was the place I most wanted to be (other than with my kids). When my daughter was with the horses, I saw her energy change and I also felt those huge rushes of energy come back into my own body. At the time, my daughter was struggling with anxiety and seeing her sit way up on the biggest horse with the energy of a fearless queen was a big shift and made a profound impact on me.

It was amazing to see that being around horses was helping us both to reconnect with our own energy.

It was then that I realized that two of my favourite aspects of life, energy and horses, were coming together in a powerful way to be my life’s work.

As a social worker for the government for over a decade, I was already working with people as a social worker and yoga teacher. Then, I embarked on further education in Equine Facilitated Wellness and my path was set.

I aligned so powerfully with the horses and felt so at home with them, that I knew my life was about to change in a huge way.

It was time to move to a farm and get some horses!

Enter Soulfarm Sanctuary.

Now, my family and I live and work on a farm with 3 horses, 2 goats, 2 dogs, and 3 cats - and we have plans to continue to grow the sanctuary. We are fortunate to live, love and work on the sacred lands originally inhabited by the Snunexmuyx people.

The way I work with horses matters to me.

I could not be more grateful for the opportunity to partner with horses and practice Horse Medicine. The horses found me (and are finding so many of you) to share their work with the world. Horses have so much to share with humans and they’ve been with us for a long time sharing it. We are only now just starting to understand this partnership fully.

I believe strongly in choice for all beings, so that is reflected in how we work together. The horses, while domesticated, are never confined when working with people and have choice to decide if they want to come near people or not. The horses on our property have full freedom in how they live their lives here at the farm, within a domestic setting.

Here are some fun facts about me:

  • I used to have a raw chocolate company called Be Raw Chocolate that I sold it in 2015. I still make and eat raw chocolate every day.

  • I salsa danced on stage in front of 3000 people in New York and I thought I was going to faint, but I made it through the whole routine and felt on top of the world after.

  • I applied for and was accepted to a traveling performance group called ‘Up with People’ when I was 16, but I turned it down because I was terrified. I still love the stage.

Here are some fun facts about my life with horses:

  • I got Raven, my first horse, on my 41st birthday! It was a dream I hadn’t even dared to dream as a child because it seemed so far out of reach for me, but here we are.

  • When I got Raven, I was scared that I wouldn’t be able to keep a horse alive.

  • We dreamed about Soulfarm many years before we built it to share with others. We named it Soulfarm because we feel this land helps people to reconnect with the wisdom of their own soul.

“The Wild lives inside of us…in our devotion to something greater than ourselves.”

I do this heart-centered work to:

  • My Soul wants to share with the world a new paradigm in physical and mental health called Consciousness Medicine, which the horses also vibrate within and many are stepping up to work with us in this realm.

  • I want humans to see how valuable and majestic horses and other animals are and that they are here for reasons way beyond what humanity has thought.

  • I want as many beings as possible to experience a settled nervous system, a body and mind that knows they are safe in the world.
